How many work permits can foreigners get?
Work permits are issued to foreign nationals when working at enterprises in Vietnam. So how many work permits does a foreigner get? If they have been granted a work permit, can they work for another company? What does a work permit application include? ABA VISA will answer these questions for you!
Conditions for applying for a work permit in many companies and enterprises
According to the Labor Code 2019, the conditions for foreign workers to apply for a work permit at the second company or enterprise are:
1. Foreign workers who are at least 18 years old and have full civil act capacity.
2. Having professional qualifications, techniques, skills, and working experience; be healthy as prescribed by the Minister of Health.
3. Not being a person who is currently serving a sentence, has not had his criminal record cleared, or is being examined for penal liability in accordance with foreign and Vietnamese laws.
4. Being a manager, executive director, expert, or technical worker.
5. Get the written approval of the competent state agency for the employment of foreign workers.
6. Has been granted a valid work permit by the employer, is hired by another employer to do the same job position stated in the work permit.

Thus, a foreigner can be granted multiple work permits as long as they meet the conditions prescribed by Vietnamese law.
When a foreigner has been granted a work permit and works for another company, the company is still responsible for carrying out the procedures for applying for a work permit with the position, and information of the company.
Documents to prepare to apply for a work permit
In case a foreigner has a valid and valid work permit but has entered into an additional job with the employer (another company), the application file for a work permit should be prepared as follows:
- The employer’s written request for a work permit in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs.
- 02 color photos (size 4cm x 6cm, white background, straight face, not wearing colored glasses), photos were taken within 06 months from the date of application.
- Certified copy of passport or other valid documents in lieu of passports or valid international travel documents as prescribed by law.
- The original or a certified copy of the issued Work Permit.
