  2. Temporary Resident Visa: Duration of stay from 6 months to 4 years, meeting long-term needs such as studying, working, or family. This visa includes the following types:
    • Student Visa: Allows to study at universities or educational centers in Mexico.
    • Work Visa: For those who already have a guaranteed job in Mexico.
    • Family Visa: For relatives of Mexican citizens or permanent residents.
    • Digital Nomad Visa: Suitable for remote workers especially in technical technology fields…
  3. Mexican Permanent Resident Visa: For those who wish to reside permanently, including retirees with stable finances or those with family ties in Mexico (marriage, sponsorship of relatives).

Are Vietnamese exempt from applying for a Mexican visa?

Vietnamese citizen not visa exempt when arriving in Mexico, except in the following special cases:

Possess a valid visa and multiple entries of countries:

    • United States (USA)
    • Canada
    • Japan
    • United Kingdom
    • Schengen countries

Have a valid permanent resident card in:

    • USA (Green Card), Canada (PR), Japan, UK/
    • Schengen countries, Chile, Colombia, Peru.
    • Own an APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) with code “MEX”.

These cases are exempt from Mexican visas and can stay for up to 180 days, provided they do not engage in remunerated activities.

If not in the above visa exemption categories, Vietnamese citizens will need to apply for a visa before entering Mexico.

Which countries are visa-free in Mexico?

Mexico offers visa-free entry to citizens of 65 countries and territories, allowing them to enter for tourism or business purposes for up to 180 days. This list includes:

  • Europe: All European Union (EU) countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican.
  • America: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela.
  • Asia: Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea.
  • Oceania: Australia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, New Zealand, Palau.
  • Africa: There are no countries on the visa exemption list.

As above, citizens of other countries can be exempted from Mexico visa if they possess a valid and valid visa from the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or a Schengen country. This allows them to enter Mexico for tourism or business purposes for a maximum period of 180 days.

Determine the appropriate visa type: TDepending on the purpose of the trip (tourism, business, study, visiting relatives), choose the appropriate visa type.

Prepare documents:

  • Visa application: Fill out the form in English or Spanish and sign.
  • Passport: Original with at least 6 months validity and copy of personal information page.
  • Card photo: One color photo 3.5 x 4 cm in size, white background, taken within 30 days.
  • Demonstrate financial: Bank statements, savings books or proof of income for the last 3 months.
  • Proof of work: Employment contract, certificate of employment or business license.
  • Trip schedule: Round trip airfare, hotel reservations and tentative itinerary.
  • Make an appointment to submit your application: Schedule an appointment to submit your application and interview at the Mexican Embassy.
  • Application and interview: Go to the Mexican Embassy at your scheduled appointment, bring your prepared documents and attend the interview.
  • Payment of fees: Visa application fee is paid in cash at the Embassy.
  • Pending approval: Processing time is usually 5 to 10 business days.
  • Get results: Once notified, go to the Embassy to receive your passport and visa.

To apply for a Mexico tourist visa, you need to prepare the following documents:

  1. Visa application: Fill in the information completely and accurately, sign.

  1. Visa application: Fill in the information completely and accurately, sign. The form can be downloaded from the website of the Mexican Embassy.
  2. Passport: Passport valid for at least 6 months and has at least 1 blank page. Submit original and copy of personal information page.
  3. Card photo: One color photo 3.5 x 4 cm in size, white background, taken no more than 30 days before submitting the application.
  4. Business invitation letter from company in Mexico: The invitation letter must clearly state the purpose, duration of stay, and business activities in Mexico. The letter must include the company's contact information in Mexico and be signed by a company representative.
  5. Demonstrate financial:
    • Personal bank account statements for the last 3 months.
    • Or, a letter of commitment from the company in Mexico guaranteeing the cost of the trip.
  6. Proof of work in Vietnam:
    • If you are an employee: Provide employment contract, work confirmation letter and salary statement for the last 3 months.
    • If you are a business owner: Provide your business license and financial statements of the company.
  7. Round trip airfare and hotel reservations: Confirmation of return airfare and accommodation information in Mexico.
  8. Travel insurance: International travel insurance with coverage in Mexico, including medical and business risks.

To apply for a Mexico family visit visa, you need to prepare the following documents:

  3. Card photo: One color photo 3.5 x 4 cm in size, white background, taken no more than 30 days before submitting the application.
  4. Invitation letter from relatives in Mexico: The invitation letter must contain the personal information of the inviter (including name, address, contact phone number) and relationship to the visa applicant. The letter should include the reason for the invitation, the expected length of stay, and a commitment to provide financial support, if any.
  5. Demonstrate financial:
    • Personal bank statements for the last 3 months, savings book, or financial documents proving ability to pay for yourself.
    • If a relative in Mexico is providing financial support, documents proving the sponsor's financial resources, such as bank statements, monthly income, or proof of employment, must be provided.
  6. Proof of relationship with relatives: Documents confirming the relationship (household registration book, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.).
  7. Round trip airfare and hotel reservations (if applicable): To demonstrate a clear itinerary and expected length of stay.
  8. Travel insurance: International travel insurance valid in Mexico, including medical insurance and possible incidents during the trip.
